About Our School

Welcome to Century Elementary, Home of the Patriots!

On August 26, 1989, Century opened its doors for the first time with 462 students and 47 staff members. The building served students from preschool through grade six. Enrollment continued to grow, and a 12-room addition was built in 1992 which allowed expansion to its highest population of 660 students and 97 staff members. The building now houses kindergarten through 5th grade with an enrollment of 450. Sixth-grade students were moved to South Middle School in Fall 1999. Our school mascot is the Patriot and our colors are red, white, and blue.

In addition to the core curriculum, our school provides students with unique opportunities for a well-rounded educational experience. We hold school-wide assemblies to honor our accomplishments, support positive behavior supports, and reinforce our school-wide expectations. Moreover, we have a supportive PTO which plans several family engagement events and conducts fundraisers for the school. Examples of programs and activities available for Century Students include: Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS); Sources of Strength; The Leader in Me program;  Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS) to help students reach their full potential academically and behaviorally; Stay in School Program; Junior Achievement; Summer School for Reading, Math, and Special Education; Choir for 4th and 5th graders; Orchestra for 4th and 5th graders; Band for 5th graders; Intramurals for 4th and 5th graders; Student Leaders Program for 5th graders; Public Health programs; Artwise; SAFE Kids Altru; partnership with University of North Dakota; After-School Program (ENCORE); and several community resources and partnerships.

In May 2019, our school was certified as a Marzano High-Reliability School for Level 1: Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative.  Moreover, in 2023 our school was certified as a Marzano High-Reliability School for Level 2: Effective Teaching in Every Classroom.

I am fortunate to be able to work in a school which values the partnership between home and school, a safe and caring environment, collaboration and support throughout the Century community, and every child as a special person with unlimited potential.
